Delonix regia
The flame-red avenue tree, sold as Gulmohar and also as May Flower. It reaches 10-15 m with a crown wider than it is tall, and flowers in April-May from its fourth or fifth year. Goes in the ground, not a pot.

- Full sun, 6+ hours; it grows thin and flowers poorly in shade
- Water
- Deep soak every 2-3 days for the first two summers, none through the monsoon, every 7-10 days in winter while young. Little once established.

- Outdoor, in open ground - garden, plot, farm or boundary. Not a terrace or balcony plant.
